We purchased this book for our 15 yrs old daughter. We did not tell her that it was a scented book. When she opened the book, she immediately commented that it smelled nice! She was thrilled to find out that the book was intentionally scented to smell like “optimism!†The inspirational sayings are relevant and relatable. We recommend purchasing this book!
Like a get well card, this small, simple book can be read quickly... but calmly and leisurely in just a little while.It's sentiment is reassuring and optimistic. It's not going to change your life immediately and it's not going to try to sell you that you can find happiness quickly and easily.It's more about pointing you on a better path and giving you a pat on that back that things should be better and can be better and maybe they will be better.This is the book I'd give to someone whose burned out from working hard and stuck in a routine they don't like and needs a little hope.Along with Simon Sinek's more in depth book, "Start with Why", I gave a copy of this to myself and I'm glad I did.
Interesting book. It is written as if like a children's story book. Simon Sinek is a very good leadership and motivational writer, and he does not disappoint in this book. Most concepts discussed the importance of dependence on your team and perseverence in hardships, and it spoke it so elegantly with the beautiful handdrawn illustrations. I guess the only kind of book I can relate this one to is "Who Moved My Cheese?" where the writer takes technical concepts and metaphorically weaves it into the storyline to make it entertaining and meaninful for the reader. Mr. Sinek does this very well in this book. The book also has a characteristic smell to it that in my opinion is woody, and bold.That with stating, I did not learn any new concepts in this book, only that he spoke the concepts in a different way and possibly for a specific audience.I had originally purchased because i wanted to use this book as one of my groomsmen gifts, but it is best left to give to a young colleague or college graduate trying to find his way in his career.

Very insightful and enjoyable read. Designed to be a 'coffee table book' to read at leisure in pieces or on a leisurely afternoon relaxing or when looking for something light to skim through and enjoy. Highly recommend to those people who are constantly looking for angles to improve themselves in daily life and in seeking greater purpose than oneself. This book is great for all ages too, because whether you are learning the lessons in the book for the first time or relearning them or just having them brought to the forefront of your mind the lessons are as pointed as they are general. By that I mean you can apply it to yourself, others, and any entities that involve people and relationships.

Those that are used to Simon's books were probably expecting a thick, story-driven story. This is not what you'll get in this book.This book is a different flavor of Simon's story telling.The book is very simple; and if you have watched the promotional video/song on his site, you have seen the majority of the drawings in the book. Yet, the experience wouldn't be complete.Yes, the book is very simple and short but the more I reflect on it, the more I see the genius of its simplicity.I think this book is thought provoking. What would you do in a situation like it? The bully, the underdog, the misfits? What would you give up to accomplish your dreams? What if your dreams are totally different from the environment you were raised in?With its simple drawings, this book challenges me to think differently, and to realize that life is meant to be lived with others.Together is definitely better.Take time to reflect on the quotes, and embed yourself in the story.
LOVE this book! I really can't say enough good things. It's a short read that is packed full of great reminders of what Leadership really is or should be. The first part is an illustrated story. The art is lovely. The second half goes a little more in depth about some of the ideas.If you find yourself at a point where you need a little inspiration this is actually worth the money. So many books try to take a great thought and stretch it into a novel. This book gets to the point and says all of the important stuff you need without dragging on. One other reviewer stated that they purchased this book as a gift to others. I actually thought about doing that after I first read it. It even has an area in the front for you to write who you are giving it to. Talented author and illustrator.
